As a Reading interventionist I work with students in Kindergarten through Fifth grade. We will be using interventions from the Comprehensive Intervention Model such as Guided Reading Plus, Comprehension Focus Groups and Interactive Writing. All of these interventions are taught in small groups. I will also be coaching teachers in Literacy. Together we will work together to help all of our students grow as avid readers.
Education and Experience
My teaching career began here in Menomonee Falls when I interned in a second grade classroom at Ben Franklin. After I graduated from UW-LaCrosse in May of 2000 I was hired as a second grade teacher at Christ King, Wauwatosa. While teaching at Christ King I completed my Masters degree in Reading and Special Education at Cardinal Stritch. In 2006 I began a new position as a Reading and Gifted and Talented teacher at Irving School in the West Allis West Milwaukee School District where I taught for eight years. During my last year in West Allis I served as an interim Academic Dean. In fall of 2014 I returned to Menomonee Falls and am the Reading Interventionist and Literacy Coach at Valley View School. I am passionate about working with both teachers and students to help all of our kids achieve their goals.
